Father and son in the trade. Veteran-owned. Founded 2007.
Wheat Electric & Controls, LLC is a small Spring Branch shop. Ed and Jamie Wheat are both licensed master electricians. Ally runs the office. The work is Hill Country homes, commercial, and plant.
Ed Wheat, master electrician, license #23081. Contractor license TECL 24872.
Ed served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a Cavalry Scout (19D), U.S. Army. Honorable discharge.
He trained in Electronic Instrumentation Technology at Texas State Technical College and graduated with honors in 1995. Then the plants: about three years at International Paper, about nine at Louisiana Pacific — shift electrician, then electrical supervisor, then Maintenance Superintendent. Weekend shutdowns in East Texas, northwest Louisiana, and southern Arkansas.
He married Rachel and founded the company in 2007. Wheat Electric has been in operation for 19 years.
Early commercial work included Planet Fitness locations in San Antonio and Austin.
Jamie is a licensed master electrician and works the jobs with him. Uncommon in a crew this size. Ally is who you get on the phone during shop hours.
Plant work we take now — panels, VFDs, soft starts, feeders, and troubleshooting on facilities that are already running, including but not limited to ready-mix and concrete plants — is on the Plant page. Ground-up plants of the old full-package scope are not. Field crew is Ed and Jamie. Homes is the other door: service, panels, generators, lighting. If a job is not a fit, we say so.
